Sometimes the greatest gift we can give the next generation—or ourselves—is the peace of mind that comes from knowing our dreams are possible.

I shared my story, and honestly, it was a little vulnerable.

I didn’t start out as a web designer because I didn’t see people who looked like me in this field. That kind of thing matters more than we sometimes admit. When we don’t see ourselves represented, we quietly start believing the space isn’t for us. So I took the long road—I doubted myself, I put up limitations, and I didn’t ask for help when I needed it.

But here’s the good news: I grew past that. I kept learning, I kept pushing, and I eventually started my own business. Seymour Digital Marketing was born out of both grit and grace, and it’s grown because I’ve learned to collaborate with others.

That’s what I encouraged the students to do today—recognize the value of working with people who can help you grow, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

The room was filled with wide eyes, curious questions, and quiet confidence. I asked them to think about their next goal—just one. And then I showed them that with tools like ChatGPT and other modern tech, those goals can become tangible. It’s not about waiting until you’re older or “more ready.” It’s about starting now, where you are, with what you’ve got.

One of the highlights of the day was connecting with a student who’s interested in photography. My heart just lit up.

Photography is a powerful form of storytelling, and I could see the spark in her eyes when she talked about it. I shared how photography can be used in so many ways—marketing, journalism, events, art—and that there’s a place for her in that world. I truly believe she’s going to take those next steps, and I’m honored to be a small part of her journey.

Days like today remind me why I do what I do. It’s not just about SEO strategies, social media calendars, or website builds. It’s about people. It’s about helping others see what’s possible for their lives, their talents, and their dreams. Whether it’s a small business owner trying to get found online or a seventh grader trying to find her path—it matters.

I want people to know that dreams aren’t just “someday” things. They’re real, and they’re reachable. Yes, it takes work. Yes, it requires clarity and help and sometimes a bit of courage. But it’s all doable.

To the students I met today: thank you for letting me speak into your lives. You inspired me more than you know.

To anyone reading this who feels unsure, unseen, or stuck: keep going. Start with one small step. Use the tools around you. Ask for help. Collaborate. And don’t let what you didn’t see growing up stop you from becoming who you were meant to be.

You belong here, too.
